On Saturday, August 10 the Historic Lewes Farmers Market will host its 7th Annual Tomato Festival.  This annual event involves tomato tasting, face painting, tomato contests for the kids and the “Great Tomato Recipe Contest.”

Entering the contest is free, and there are three categories available for participants: appetizers/soups, entree and desserts.  All entries must fill out the official entry form and submit it my mail or to historiclewesfarmersmarket [at] comcast [dot] net by Tuesday, August 6.  Recipes will be judged on the use of local tomatoes (and other local ingredients) as well as overall taste and presentation.

If you haven’t made it to the Historic Lewes Farmers Market yet this season, we suggest you drop by soon.  The tomato festival is a great time to do it, especially because you get to sample different tomato recipes!  The Historic Lewes Farmers Market is located at Lewes Historical Society Complex at the end of 2nd street.
