No, the Cape Shores beach is a bayfront beach and the waves are very small and great for kids.  The only time the waves get larger are when the ferry comes in and out, however the waves are still very manageable at that time.  The smooth bay is great for kayaking, swimming, paddle-boarding, tubing and almost any other water sport!  If you are looking for bigger waves, Cape Henlopen State Park is a great option 5 minutes from 8 Sandpiper.
